French Language Mastery at Alliance Française

DePaul’s Study Abroad Program in France is located in the heart of one of the world’s most beautiful and exciting cities. While studying at the Alliance Française, an international language school, participants not only have the chance to become conversant in French but also to experience the rich cultural and political life of Paris. Proximity to other major European cities allows students to visit additional places of interest following their stay in Paris.

The program includes excursions in and around Paris, and longer trips to the surrounding French countryside. In this way, students have an opportunity to combine their classroom learning with direct experience with a variety of French communities. Previous excursions have included a weekend in Les Chateaux de la Loire, a rich historic area where several French monarchs maintained their courts, day trips to Versailles, the palace of the Sun King, Louis XIV, and the Cathedrale de Chartres.

Students participating in this program during the Spring of their senior year should be aware that overseas grades may not receive their degree conferral until August. While the Study Abroad office will do everything they can to expedite the process, we usually do not receive the overseas transcripts early enough for a June graduation conferral.

Circumstances, such as an unexpected event abroad or a curriculum change at a host institution, may require DePaul University to make changes to the program. DePaul University reserves the right to cancel or alter programs and courses without notice.

LIVING ARRANGEMENTS

Students live with French hosts in and near Paris. To help further improve their French language skills, DePaul students will have as roommates fellow students from the Alliance Française who are not native English speakers.

The French hosts will prepare breakfast and dinner daily. Students are responsible for their midday meals, which can be taken at an inexpensive cafeteria at the Alliance Française.

EXPENSES

In addition to DePaul tuition for 16 credits, costs include a specific program fee. For updated information on speficic program expenses, click here:
