Atlantis Dual Degree

Dual Degrees in France and Sweden

This trans-Atlantic dual degree program in Information Technology and business prepares students for success in the interconnected world of the 21st century. A federal grant provides financial support for students from DePaul CDM to spend a year abroad and obtain two bachelor degrees. Participants from the USA, France, and Sweden spend their junior year at two European institutions: Ecole de Commerce Européenne (ECE) in Lyon, France, and Linköping University in Linköping, Sweden.

During their junior year the French, Swedish and American students spend the Fall together in Lyon at École de Commerce Européenne (ECE) where they take a full load of coursework in business taught in English. The American and Swedish students also take French Language classes. All Atlantis students then move on to Linköping, Sweden in January. During the spring, students complete management coursework and a thesis to earn a Bachelors of Social Sciences in Business Administration – International. All students spend their senior year in the United States with the DePaul, French and Swedish students completing DePaul CTI degrees.

COURSES

Students arrive in Lyon, France early in August for orientation and an immersion course in French at their appropriate levels. No prior French is required to participate in this program. There, they will take a full load of coursework at ECE during its Fall semester. All Atlantis students will then move on to Linköping, Sweden in January for winter quarter coursework at the university. Spring quarter will be spent working on a thesis or project to complete the European degree while students continue their stay in Sweden. Depending on the courses previously taken and the degree selected, participants may be asked to spend a full calendar year in Europe.

Circumstances, such as an unexpected event abroad or a curriculum change at a host institution, may require DePaul University to make changes to the program. DePaul University reserves the right to cancel or alter programs and courses without notice.

LIVING ARRANGEMENTS

Housing in this program is designed to encourage you to live independently while learning to negotiate the host cities and institutions. Students are responsible for their own accommodations. The host institutions in Europe will help you find housing within or near the universities. In Lyon, all housing is off-campus in the community. At Linköping, students will have the choice to stay in University housing or to share private flats. The university will facilitate the search for private flats and Swedish host students will also be available to help you locate housing that meets your needs.

Each participant will receive a stipend to help defray living expenses while in Europe.

EXPENSES

In addition to DePaul tuition, costs include a specific program fee.  For updated information on specific program expenses, click here:

For this program, the fee covers medical insurance and a study abroad administrative fee. Coursework that students take in Europe will be awarded credit at that institution as well as at DePaul. The courses passed at one institution will be fully and automatically recognized by partner institutions in the Atlantis program.

Students should plan their budgets to cover airfare, housing, meals, passport and visa fees, supplies, textbooks, and personal expenses. However, Atlantis program participants will receive travel and living grants of about $1,200 per month for the duration of their time in Europe.

If applicants are receiving financial aid, they should consult their advisor in the Financial Aid office to see how their aid can be applied to the costs of the program. Students accepted to study abroad programs approved by DePaul are automatically eligible for a Foreign Travel Grant distributed by Financial Aid. These need-based awards vary based on the need figure from their FAFSA’s.

DePaul University reserves the right to adjust program fees and the right to cancel or alter programs and courses without notice.

Program fees are based on actual costs of the prior year and projections for the current year.  Inflation and fluctuating exchange rates make it impossible to state a fixed cost.  DePaul University reserves the right to adjust program fees without notice.
