Undergraduate Scholarships

Scholarship News   

The Study Abroad Program would like to congratulate all scholarship applicants and recipients for their efforts and achievements this year.  The following is a list of recipients for both DePaul and non-DePaul affiliated 2009-10 study abroad scholarships:

DePaul Scholarships   

  • American Airlines Global Leader Program
    Covers two students per year on a DePaul program with round-trip travel on American Airlines flight routes.

  • Scholarship Competiton: Learning the Legacies
    A competition for scholarships to support students interested in engaging some aspect of he legacies of service of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac through learning experience abroad. Programs eligible: Kenya GBM, Paris IES, Paris AF

  • Jason M. Bristow Study Abroad Scholarship This scholarship is an award of $1,500 given to one student annually.  All DePaul students studying for the first time in one of DePaul's term-long programs in Hungary or Poland are eligible, including adult and returning students. 

  • OMSA Sponsored Study Abroad Scholarship Provides financial support to diverse and motivated undergraduate students interested in participating in a Fall 2009 DePaul study abroad program.  

Partner Institution Scholarships   

  • Ritsumeikan University Scholarship

    This scholarship is designed for exceptional partner university students in need of financial assistance while enrolled in the full-year Study in Kyoto Program.  Students must be nominated by their university exchange office to be eligible.  Students may be nominated for both the Ritsumeikan University Scholarship and the JASSO scholarship; however, students are not able to receive both scholarships at that time.  Please submit the application form and supporting documents by the deadline along with the nominee's study in Kyoto Program application.  Click here for Application form
  • University of Sheffield in America Study Abroad Scholarships University of Sheffield offers several partial scholarships to American students studying abroad for fall semester, spring semester, or the academic year.  Students must complete a brief essay stating why they would be qualified to earn the scholarship.  To apply, students must already be admitted to the Sheffield study abroad program.  

Non-Affiliated Scholarships   

  • Worldwide: Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship Program
    Federal need-based scholarship for US undergraduate students on study abroad programs of at last six weeks. Must be receiving Pell Grant to qualify.

  • Boren Scholarship and Fellowship applications for the 2010-2011 academic year are available on the Boren Awards website (www.borenawards.org) . Deadline for graduate students: January 28, 2010. Deadline for undergraduate students: February 10, 2010. 

      Japan: JASSO International Student Scholarship A stipend is provided for selected students applying to DePaul programs in Japan.  JASSO applicants may be issued their Certificate of Enrollment by the Study Abroad Office if necessary.  Students may apply to both Ritsumeikan Scholarships offered.

    • Worldwide: The Fulbright Program
      For U.S. citizens and graduating senior undergraduate and graduate students for many different opportunities abroad and in all fields of study. A Fulbright scholarship is a year-long or 9-12 month program. Contact the Fulbright Program Advisor, Dr. Jonathan Gross of the English Department for more information.

    • Central America: Crystal Fund Grant Full Scholarships for Chicago students are available through the Crystal Fund's Travel Alive Program, in which students study Spanish, volunteer, and immerse themselves in the cultures of Nicaragua and Ecuador.

    • Monbukagakusho Scholarships The Japanese Ministry of Education is offering a set of highly competitive scholarships.  These are offered to non-Japanese
      nationals who wish to study in Japan.
